RC airplane TrottelDecker is extremely easy to build, has good-natured flight characteristics, is unlimited suitable for aerobatics and is rather ugly — the ideal model to fly uninhibitedly, risk-taking and almost everywhere.
TrottelDecker is a small flying machine with a wide range of uses. This ranges from aileron training to aggressive 3D flight. Compared to the original idiot, the Idiot Decker is better at knife flying and can be moved in even narrower airspaces.
The Trotteldecker is the biplane version of my super simple Trottel wing on box model. And as I always was a fan of the Panic which is the ultimate simple aerobatic bipe, I borrowed the tail setup and the idea to put the wing struts at wingtips.
The Trotteldecker is small, 60cm span, under 300g of weight. Powerde by a 20 g motor and a 450mAh 3s Lipo.
Construction is all 6mm Depron, no wing spars or other reinforcement.
Wings are KFm4 with a quite sharp leading edge and blunt trailing edge.
You can fly it as an aileron trainer/sports model on 2s with moderate control throws — or as a small extreme aerobatic monster with 3D capabilities on 3s with large throws.
