Here`s a few build specs on a beautiful Extra 330L 50cc RC Airplane kit with an 88.5" wingspan and 20x6 Classis Series Master Airscrew . The pre-fabricated laser cut built-up balsa/plywood frame covered with a Yellow/Red/Black drum tight Econocote came with enough hardware to attach long 5" servo arms, large add-on optioned 7" landing gear wheels replacing the stock 3.5" foam wheels, and other top-flite model aircraft parts that will make it fun to fly out at the RC Club. The kit arrived with an empty weight of about 15 pounds. After adding 7 servos & linkages, one for the throttle, 2 for the ailerons, 2 combined in line for the rudder, 2 for the elevator, and the engine weighing in at about 9 pounds with the additional plywood mount built-up, the plane finished at a total 25 pounds tare weight. The greater weight on a smaller engine will put this model aircraft in a sport class. With a larger engine and 26" prop, it could be a 3D aerobatic model.
No RC plane is safe around Test-pilot Tim (grab your popcorn) and in this video you get 8 minutes of uncut nitro terror as he hurls the Kyosho Calmato around the sky in an attempt to break it
THE MIG MAIDENED VERY WELL IN THE GUSTING 15 MPH WIND BUT DUE TO THE BRITTLE NATURE OF THE PLASTIC SHE SIMPLY BROKE UP ON THE SLIGHTLY HARD LANDING - PITY AS THERE IS POTENTIAL THERE !
