Rewiev: During the lockdown I had time to design a pylon racer based on a model called Petit Chelem. I have redesigned the plane to be 3D printed and wanted to use a very thin wing profile to increase speed.
I bring you a pylon racer optimized for LW PLA. It is very light and quite strong, very easy to print on a 3D printer of a minimum of 300x300x300mm (Sidewinder X1, CR-10, ...). Two versions of tail, fixed or removable.
Two versions of fuselage, with or without landing gears (only change part 1 of fuselage).
SPECIFICATIONS:
- Wingspan: 1014mm
- Length: 782mm
- Est. weight: 600g (without battery)
- CG: 63mm
- Airfoil: MH-33
Fuselage and wings are optimized for print with LW PLA
Cowl is recommended to print with ABS, better withstands heat
Servo covers could be made with ABS or PLA, not recommended with LW PLA (very soft)
Version with landing gear I recomment to print with ABS or PLA/Nylon with Carbon Fiber, little more flexible and stronger.
Also you need:
1 CF tube 6mm x 780mm
1 CF rod 3mm x 780mm
2 steel rods 1,5 or 2mm x 100mm (aileron)
1 steel rod 1 or 1,2mm x 600mm (elevator)
1 M4 nut
1 M4 20mm screw to fix the wings
2 M3 nuts
2 M3 6-8mm screws to fix de cowl
2 wing servos (preferably 10mm maximum thickness)
1 elevator mini servo
1 brushless motor up to 28mm
1 brushless Esc (Amp. depends on the motor power)
1 battery 1600-2200mah 3S or more
Option landing gear:
1 mini servo to drive (only insert into the socket and fix with 2 screws)
2 nuts M3 an 2 screwws M3 to fix rear
3 wheels 25-35mm (nose wheel max. width 10mm)
3 M2 screws and 3 M2 nuts to fix wheels
