Maidened the Foamingo flying boat yesterday. As temporary markings, I stuck on a few bits of cheap duct tape. To get the model off our grass strip, I built in an aluminum tube sewn to the wing LE bulkhead to hold a music wire axle.
Aside from needing more elevator throw and a bit more power, the model flew well and landed fine. Now that the maiden is done, I've pulled off the tape and will paint the model flamingo colors.
This technique of 3D printing the wing ribs to hold a true aerofoil shape worked out super well! Combined with foam sheets, packing tape and the lightweight wooden spar, it performs amazingly well!
