Jupiter Junior The fun vintage biplane.
The Jupiter Junior biplane was the third design by James Jupiter, owner, chief designer and test pilot of Jupiter Aircraft Ltd. in Boston. The first flight took place on July 11, 1931 at Plum Island Airport in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Jokes aside — there is no man-carrying role model for this model. But I've always particularly liked the airplanes of the early 1930s. Wonderful proportions, elegant shapes and curved lines. This style was taken to extremes in the flight models of the time, which of course were still free-flight models. Carl Goldberg's Comet Clipper and Frank Ehling's Elf Biplane are representative of the beautiful designs of this time. I wanted to build a model that combines this flair with modern, inexpensive equipment and low construction costs. The small biplane Jupiter Junior presented here is the result of these considerations.
