In the wind - my DIY sub-250g Foamboard FPV RC plane
There was a stiff breeze today at the field and a lot of thermal turbulence so I thought I`d see how well the little DIY Sub-250 gram FPV model I built from foamboard would handle the conditions. The answer: pretty damned well! Our runway is about 1Km long and I flew to each end with no problems, then did a bit of low-level proximity just for fun! Brilliant!
This technique of 3D printing the wing ribs to hold a true aerofoil shape worked out super well! Combined with foam sheets, packing tape and the lightweight wooden spar, it performs amazingly well!
